ABOUT ELEVENTH ROOM
Eleventh Room is a conceptional design label. Its creations are a blend of fashion and home decor design, centered around the philosophy of creating new solutions in the worlds of fashion accessories, design and art, for everyday life. By not imposing any limit to its creativity, Eleventh Room demonstrates a deep interest for recycling, misusing, undoing materials as well as using traditional and artisanal techniques.
Constantly investigating the boundaries of style, Eleventh Room navigates somewhere between fashion and beauty, interior decor and art, collaboration with other brands and stylized advertising. Their products, which sit on the fine line between art objects and design, high function and high fashion, are always unique and marked by the recycling or adaptation of unexpected materials put to use in a totally new way. Products such as L’AVU washable paper bags, raincoats and beach bags made out of construction paper - Tyvek, scented lava rocks, etc. are the results of manipulations of the material or its function.
Eleventh Room has been producing unique objects unconstrained by boundaries, blurring the lines between the fields of fashion, art and design in their creative output.
What they do is not so easily summed up. “Many of our products are not typical items found in lifestyle stores, but aim to be all time favorites for everyday life,” says ER. Their projects remain somewhat simple, inspired by the ins and outs of daily life.
In order to grasp the full identity of Eleventh Room, they have created the store concept 11Room. The shopping space allows customers to enter into a home decorated with Eleventh Room products, “We don’t like to exhibit our products that are made for using. Our products can only fully come to life once applied in everyday life. That’s why it’s also difficult for us to see them just displayed in a shop. It’s easier to understand their meaning in a domestic mix with other personal belongings.” says ER. “We prefer to showcase our collections via friends carrying our bags, or plants planted in our planters, or throws on our sofas and we often present them during dinner parties in the 11Room.”
Although today’s fashion is very ephemeral (which could be rather liberating as there is no need for it to exist for a lifetime), we have abandon this freedom and decided to aim for the opposite in our designs - classical in form and settled deeply in the comfort of good quality. Items that you cannot part with, because they become your all time favorites. We aim not to create any waste and produce our collections eternally. Therefore our past is also our present and future in one.
(Eleventh Room designers do not wish to have their identities revealed. In an industry that is so much about personas, the anti-fashion group solely wants to be defined by their work.)
